UK holiday between Xmas and New Year

Hi, we were debating going away on the 26th for four nights or so but it's going to be tricky to time it right, together with putting the dog in kennels, so we thought right, somewhere in the UK then that the dog can come with us. But where? Is everywhere gloomy as soon as the 25th is gone? We are South East at present. Any suggestions would be lovely for 2 adults, one teenager and one dog. Thanks

Centre parcs is good - they do a light trail in the forest and other festive activities. You can also take your dogs!

We go to Harrogate every year between Xmas & new year.
we have a great time!
do a bit of sales shopping, explore the local country side and go on walks

Air bnb in Whitby area and surrounding. Long walks on the beach with the dog and plenty of cosy pubs.

We go to centre parcs after xmas for new year but the dates aren’t flexible. Last year it was 28th and this year 30th December. It’s fab though. Lights are beautiful and it’s lovely to look forward after Xmas.
