Renting a car with a Debit card

We have reserved online with Enterprise at Lyon Airport (France). Whilst their website states clearly that they accept debit cards I am worried about turning up to collect it and there being some kind of issue around us using a debit card to hire. Has anyone done this and can advise if it was ok?
Thanks!

I did this in Ireland and then had to pay for the maximum insurance up front when I got there. I would call them and check

Oh really? How much was that if you don’t mind me asking?

yes they will charge a large deposit if you only have a debit card - charge, not just block. How much depends on the car you've reserved.

Don’t remember exactly but at least £150 for 5 days

The deposit will be more like £1500 not £150. Or you can pay a daily fee to avoid it.

Do you have time to get a credit card, assuming you don't already have one?

A lot of people say they 'don't need a credit card' but inconveniences like this show that they do.
