Crete recommendations

First time to Crete and looking for a hotel with things to do for a 12 year old ( possibly AI for ds but I’m not a big fan of buffets) also not mega busy Brits abroad feeling and within walking distance of tavernas etc

i have looked at Lyttos beach and mare but can’t decide
Avri imperial?

any experinces or other recommendations?

Have a look at Sensana Resort. Tui doesn’t advertise it as a waterpark resort but the selection of slides is quite good. Easy walk to both shops and restaurants.
