Two weeks. Insane heat?

Has anyone been in July? Is it enjoyable or just too much. Found a great hotel.

Looking for some personal experience.

Thankyou.

We returned from Sharm a couple of weeks ago, we only went for a week and I couldn’t have coped with any longer, I’d had enough of the heat by day 4. It was touching 40 nearly every day, relentless heat. We all got burnt despite putting on sun cream very regularly, including my husband who is black. The air con in the hotels are great but there were times we just stayed in the room to avoid the heat. My daughter also had a dose of the Pharoahs Curse which was rather unpleasant, I wouldn’t return.

gingercat02 · 17/08/2025 15:01

We've been to Sharm late September and it was lovely, but it was a diving holiday. That is the only reason to go, the place is shitty and full lecherous men.

Growlybear83 · 17/08/2025 15:02

I can’t comment on:Sharm el Sheikh as I’ve not been to the Egyptian resorts because they don’t appeal at all, but we’ve been to Luxor, Aswan, Cairo, and Abu Simbel many times, always in June, July, and August. We’ve always found the heat bearable because it’s so dry with almost no humidity. I find 45 degrees in Luxor much more comfortable than 30 degrees here. Egypt is a wonderful country if you go with an open mind. Once you get out of your hotel, Egyptian food is excellent, and the sightseeing is on a different level to most places I’ve been. Many people have stomach problems bit none of us has ever had an issue in around a dozen trips. The first time we went, I was advised to always be realy scrupulous about washing my hands or using sanitiser evwry single time I touched any money and if you see the condition of Egyptian bank notes you can understand why. Apart from that, avoid I’ve and salads unless you know it’s been washed on bottled water and make sure you use bottled water to brush your teeth. It’s also important to check that the seal on bottled water hasn’t been broken when you buy it.

HotTiredDog · 17/08/2025 15:12

You’re mad.

PinkPinkPinkBlue · 17/08/2025 15:23

Been to both Hurghada and Sharm with kids, Hurghada they were 6, 9 and 12 Sharm 12, 15, 18 its was great both times. Both trips were during October half term the temperature was mid 30’s then which was manageable, evenings were just as hot but dark, don’t think I would do July as it would be to hot to enjoy outside activities, queuing for water slides etc would be unbearable!

MellowPinkDeer · 17/08/2025 15:27

Sharm any time is a huge mistake. Worse place I’ve ever been.

Nearly50omg · 17/08/2025 15:30

Worst time of year in January February so by July it’s not too bad

SunSeaSangria · 17/08/2025 15:34

Has anyone ever enjoyed it? We have booked a week for Easter.

CalzoneOnLegs · 17/08/2025 16:09

@SunSeaSangria yes for diving/snorkelling the sea is incredibly clear and the marine life is gorgeous. Okay at Easter heat wise, the sea may feel slightly cooler, I went in March once and it got dark really early but you could comfortably sunbathe without burning. Good for a week ‘fly and flop’ at that time of the year. Things I did not like were very rude and often aggressive Russian tourists actually elbowing you out of the way and making loads of mess, Egyptian men are quite ‘creepy’ and misogynist, I had a very bullying dive master on one trip, yet he was polite to the men.
‘Loose’ shall we say movements but not anything worse than that but I don’t eat meat or fish, my friend had 48 hours in bed, she blamed some turkey the night before, I stuck to bread, cheese, omlettes and pasta and salad which everyone says to avoid. In our hotel they had a pasta station and it was brilliant for me they would do any sauce you asked for freshly made in front of you. I’ve been 4 times and not been ill, went in August and it was unbearable heat wise.

CalzoneOnLegs · 17/08/2025 16:10

@SunSeaSangria and the ‘town’ of sharm is awful for being hassled, maybe worth a trip for an hour in the evening just once to see for yourself.

notanothersummercold · 17/08/2025 16:20

I went in April one year and even that was too hot - 38 degrees in the shade so on that basis alone, it's a no from me.

CalzoneOnLegs · 17/08/2025 16:30

@notanothersummercold thats unseasonably high, April is normally recorded at a high of 28

CosyNavyLeader · 17/08/2025 16:33

Thanks for the replies. We've exhausted all the other European resorts so fancied something different.

I think we will go for it. Life is for experiencing.

@PinkPinkPinkBlue I liked October too, the sea was so warm and the temperatures were nice with a cooler breeze, it is quite breezy there isn’t it? Again short days I found.

Glitchymn1 · 17/08/2025 16:34

I have, I was younger and loved the March Gambia heat so Egypt was ok. The sea will be warm, most people will go to their rooms across noon. It’ll be pool, sea, siesta.

I couldn’t do it now!

CalzoneOnLegs · 17/08/2025 16:35

@CosyNavyLeader I’d reccomend some UV suits for the Children in that case. I would never snorkel without a rash vest at any time of the year as you can easily lose a couple of hours doing that and your back is exposed the whole time. I hope you enjoy it

Oh wow l must have been either lucky or unlucky depending on how you look at it!!
The waiters still had vests on under their shirts!!!

BrendaSmall · 17/08/2025 16:39

Cinaferna · 17/08/2025 14:23

Don't. It will be too hot to move, to sunbathe, to be in the pool.
Also, I have never met anyone who went to Sharm and didn't spend the majority of their holiday throwing up from food poisoning. Go somewhere you can enjoy the sun and not get ill.

Absolutely ridiculous!!
we go every year, sometimes twice a year and we’ve never been ill !!

we always pick a hotel on a private beach as I have an allergy to pool chemicals, and we spend a lot of time in the sea snorkelling!!

CosyNavyLeader · 17/08/2025 16:42

Thankyou for the recommendations. We are very olive skinned so I'm not overly concerned about burning. But I will research some survival kit items as a precaution. I think we will be fine. Millions of people go every July.

@CosyNavyLeadereveryone tells you you’re mad but you say sod it I’m going anyway. What a waste of a post!

Sidge · 17/08/2025 16:44

Christ no. 1, Sharm is a shithole and 2, it will be hotter than the sun.

There are hundreds of better places to go.

Catwoman8 · 17/08/2025 16:44

I find it a bizarre that probably 90% of the replies are saying don't go in July, but you have just responded with sod it, we will go anyway. Pointless post if your mind is already made up.

SunSeaSangria · 17/08/2025 16:45

Thanks @CalzoneOnLegs.

Aposterhasnoname · 17/08/2025 16:49

I love the heat, but sharm was way too hot for me in July.
