So ive never been abroad. I know sad right. I'd like to go somewhere affordable and child friendly.

Any suggestions.

How old are the kids? What do your kids like doing- are you thinking a pool/beach etc or museums etc?

If you’re in Leeds just have a look at jet2 packages from LBA. They are a great company and although I often book separately as I am very confident travelling and I know the potential risks, for your first holiday do it the easy way.

The canaries are a good shout too for your first time. Costa Adeje and Siam Park are my recommendations for first time with kids

@watchuswreckthemic my youngest is 7 and my oldest is 17. They both like beaches and entertainment.

I would start somewhere like Majorca or the Canary Islands, they are very easy to get around, family friendly, most people speak English. Good
for a first time abroad holiday.
Majorca is best May-September, outside of that is out of season for them and it’s a bit cold for the beach and swimming outdoors.
Canary Islands are good all year round, but if you’re going early spring/winter make sure you book somewhere with a heated pool.

I really recommend Jet 2, we’ve never had issues when we’ve booked with them and if you’re lucky you’ll get a free child place for the youngest.
All inclusive can make it easier to budget and easy when the kids are asking for drinks and ice creams all the time.

Try Greek islands such as Crete (ticks all boxes, loads of history) or Zante, Rhodes etc.

What is your budget? I’d recommend the Balearics for a first holiday abroad, short flight and brits are well catered for if you want the odd familiar home comfort.
I love Es Cana in Ibiza. Great beach. Plenty of bars & restaurants without it feeling too tacky or Brits abroad. Boat trips from the small harbour, it’s great.

Majorca.....a short flight and lovely place.

watchuswreckthemic · 17/08/2025 16:41

I agree with others, Majorca is great. We liked Paguera- club Fergus europa

Bjorkdidit · 18/08/2025 04:02

I agree that a jet2 package would be a good idea but also consider mainland Spain or Canaries as likely to get more for your money than the Balearics.

bunnyapple4 · 18/08/2025 08:34

Also recommend Majorca, we went a few weeks ago for dd’s very first holiday. We went with Jet2 and honestly they made it all so easy! We had an absolutely wonderful time.

TwinklyRoseTurtle · 18/08/2025 08:40

Agree with others Majorca for first holiday- few hour flight, lovely weather- I’ve been to a few places but just type in Majorca holidays and see what takes your fancy. I’ve never been anywhere bad in Majorca except magaluf when I was 17 😳🤣

Drivingthevengabus · 18/08/2025 08:48

Agree Majorca or Menorca would be a good first place to go abroad.
