Getting to gozo

is this as straightforward from Malta airport as it sounds? Thinking about going in October with (reasonably sprightly!) parents in their 80s for a 5 day trip- is it manageable? Any tips or ideas?

We booked a taxi from airport to Gozo. We booked one that is on Gozo, i believe they get priorityon the ferry. We were picked up and went on the ferry over without problems. Going across the sea on the ferry really made me feel "our holiday has started!" Loved it!

Thank you!

You probably want a private transfer or taxi but can also go on the bus.

Ferry is just turn up and get on the next one as foot passengers unless you have your own hire car. You only pay for the ferry on the way back, there's no charge to just go from Malta to Gozo as just about everyone will return at some point.

Then obviously you'll need transport such as buses, taxi or hire car on Gozo.

Gozo is lovely! We always just hire a car in Malta as we find it easier. The ferry is indeed super straightforward and we've never had an issue with any queues or anything.

The beaches are very, very beautiful and worth exploring. There's often a LOT of jellyfish though so swimming is not always possible. A boat trip to the blue lagoon is definitely worthwhile.

The big church (Tapi'nu or something similar) is worth a visit - interesting stories of miracle recoveries in a similar (but smaller) vein to Lourdes.

Enjoy!
