PAris Metro with 5 year old. Tips please.

So,ignorant foreigner here looking for advice, like:

Do the machines that sell tickets speak English?
Do kids ride free?
Can I get a weekend travel card that just goes anywhere in Paris for Sat and Sun?

And is the metro kid friendly enough for me to expect to get around on it with a 5 year old. We ride the tube in London without any problems.

Years ago I lived in Paris, and yes the metro is kid friendly for a 5 yo (though not buggy freindly)

It's yeasr since I lived there , but when I was kids travelled half price the tickets could be used on either buses or metro.

Sorry stipid post - I was rushing! I think you might be best to buy a "carnet" (sp?) of 10 tickets, which can be used on the mero or bus.

No buggies. DD and I are leaving DS (who would require a buggy) and DH at home. I told DD is was a girlie weekend and no boys were allowed. She thinks it's her first official "Girlie weekend". I suppose it is.

You just buy ten tickets at once (carnet de dix)- I supose it's a bit cheeper, then you just use one each time.

Children 4 and over are half price.

2 day ticket for adults 14E for central paris.

Carnet of 10 tickets 11,10E not sure which zones.

If you can manage on the tube you will be fine on the metro. same system really just know the name of the line and the name of the station at end of the line.

yes I used to live in paris too - ask for a carnet dix and you will get ten tickets that can be used at any time.
