5 days somewhere special at Easter - ideas?

I turn 50 next year in May and would like to go away as a treat. It would have to be in the Easter school holiday. I'm stuck for ideas as ideally would like somewhere special but to accommodate dc would need to be no longer than a week, ideally 5 days, so can't be too far away. Lisbon and Krakow are both on my list, but would also like to get out of Europe if possible.

We don't like very hot place, like cities with culture/history and perhaps easy access to coast and/or country for a couple of day trips. Maybe somewhere mountainous. Nice cafes/supermarkets - we like sc so we have space from each other!

Any suggestions gratefully received.

going out of Europe and not wanting somewhere very hot are rather at logger heads with other in terms of requirements, particularly if you only want to go for 5 days! How hot is too hot and how old are the DC?

Southern tip of Spain? Could add a day trip to Gib and get the ferry to Tangiers? Not heard great things about it though.

Pyrenees. France, Spain and Andorra?

Or a mini trip round E Europe. Fly into one country. Train /drive into one or 2 others and fly back from somewhere else.

Iceland?

Agree with pp that for 5 days you probably dont want to go too far. Southern Europe should be pleasantly warm but not hot.

New York, Toronto, Boston?

Montreal and Quebec City

Bosnia-Herzegovina could suit your criteria, especially if you did a split between Sarajevo and Mostar, with the beautiful drive through the mountains between the two.

Lots of history in both (and not just war-related although obviously that does feature), some beautiful architecture, very much a cafe culture (never see anyone with takeaway coffee, if you’re having a coffee you sit and take the break!).

Lots of beautiful scenery for day trips outside of the two places I mentioned too.

Google suggests April temps of high teens/low 20s.

Thanks all - plenty to think about,

I know 5 days not in Europe is a bit of an ask, but I thought I'd ask the hive mind! Quebec is a great shout, especially as ds1 has just done his French A level and keen to keep up his skills as he's not doing it at uni. Just have to consider whether the flight price is going to be worth the relatively short stay - though I know it's what I asked for.

I also love the idea of Bosnia- Herzegovina and Slovenia as I love that kind of landscape.

Off the Google further - thank you!

I suggest a River Cruise, I was at the river cruise conference in March, and it best thing I have done, you get to go through beautiful countryside of places you wouldn't normally see, most of them all fully all inclusive, wine, food and excursions., the Danube - Budapest - Vienna (stops at Melk, Krems, Bratislava) the Rhine, the Rhone do you love wine, so much to discuss,
and it accommodates any budget, you can go no frills, or very posh to celebrate.
let me know your travel styles and i can suggest
Also what is DC? sorry

New York is a good long weekend.

Malta? We were there at Easter this year. We rented a villa with pool, and had a car so could explore the Island.

Was going to suggest the same. We were in the capital Valletta for a day and would have liked to spend more time there tbh. But not a whole week.

Devon. It will be beautiful, everything just coming in to leaf. It won’t be too crowded either.

We went to Sicily at Easter - it was stunning. Beautiful weather, flowers and oranges everywhere. Stuffed full of culture, history, wonderful food, beautiful places, lovely walks. A volcano. Beaches if you want them. We did a hotel in Taormina (quiet at Easter), followed by SC near Syracuse.
