Safari summer 2026

So next year is a big year for me as my youngest leaves college and 15 years of trying to juggle being a single mum with work and school will come to an end. I’d love to celebrate by taking my grown up kids on a safari.

Any recommendations/things to avoid?

South Africa is pretty spectacular as is Kenya. Plus the time difference means there is little jet lag. However, check the weather and whether the area is malarial as you’ll need to take precautions. Safari’s can be very expensive but there are cheaper options.

I'm in the process of finalising a week's safari in Tanzania followed by a week in Zanzibar in July 2026. I'm beyond excited.

Are you going through a travel agent? Until now we’ve had a week in Greece or Spain every other year with TUI so this is very different

I took my post a-level ds to https://www.newmarketholidays.co.uk/destinations/africa/south-africa/on-safari-in-south-africa/ last July and it was amazing.

The whole thing was really well put together, the food was fantastic, the guides were really good, the accommodation was great. I couldn't say a bad word about it. We did all the optional tours, and it wouldn't have been as good without them.

I also went when I was 17 with family who loved in Botswana, we went to Victoria Falls then on safari in Chobe. Another absolutely stunning holiday, although I only really appreciated how lucky I'd been to have that experience when I took ds last year - I messaged my aunt to thank her again (35 years later 🤣).

Yes. There's no way I'd do something like this without one...I could manage an accommodation cock up in France, less so in Kilimanjaro! We are using Trailfinders.
