South East Asia Recommendations for 40h

I’m turning 40 soon and life has been hard the last 4 years.

So for my 40th I want to go for a fancy holiday to South East Asia (it’s my happy place).

It’ll be DH and DS and I. DS will be 6-7 years old depending on when we fly.
I want to do a few nights in Singapore as I grew up there.

Budget is fairly open and flexible at the moment but within reason (so don’t need budget hotels but not looking to spend £600 a night for hotels). Ideally we travel for 2 weeks.

I’m looking for recommendations for what could be a perfect combination location for us with Singapore and any hotel recommendations.

We love a balance of swimming and pool time, water sports or slides, but also being out and about doing things - both action/adventure and things like interactive science museums.

Foodwise - AI is fine not needed, we prefer to have easy to get to options of local establishments and local food. DS is (currently) not a picky eater so want to make the most of it with delicious food.

We always go to Jumbo’s in Singapore if it helps recommendations at all.

Avani + Khao Lak Resort is very family friendly and there’s quite a bit to do locally.

We are going to Bangkok, Koh Samui and Singapore for my Husband's 40th later this month and going with our 1 year old.

Would depend what month you are planning to go

Depends on time of year. I went to Koh Samui last July and was disappointed with the weather, sea and beaches. I wouldnt go back but aware that could just be me. Japan is a great holiday destination and very affordable. It depends if you want a beach focus though.

I’m definitely checking these out!
Good point on seasonality and when we travel - ideally it’d be between February and April.
