Where have you been with young DC’s/baby…

That everyone enjoyed?

We took DC (8&6) to Disney Paris in April and we all had a great time although DS6 complained about the walking, he’s not a great walker. We now have a newborn and I’m thinking about next year and where might be suitable for everyone to have a good time? We have been to France so would like somewhere else. Would ideally not be Spain or Turkey. Any suggestions would be amazing!

Travelling with a baby isn’t easy. I know you said not France but the short flight time really is a game changer as are some of the smaller airports. We have traveled quite a bit with our children and by far our least stressful holiday was flying to Limoges (tiny airport) and hiring a gite in the dordogne valley with a pool. We honestly all had a great time- the kids were 17,15 and 4 (twins). We did so much exploring but also relaxed by the pool and spent days on the beach at the local lake too. We also really enjoy going to a small hotel in Crete in a village called Koutouloufari. Lovely little pool, breakfast on site and a couple of villages to stroll around at night or through the day with lots of little shops and restaurants and it’s not too far to the beach and more lively resorts. We find big hotels and big airports cause us the most stress when the children are young and a long transfer time and late flight time can also cause upset and excess exhaustion for all.

When they were under 5 we mainly preferred to stay in the UK, it was easier! I know that weather is variable but honestly Europe in August can be so hot. We're only in Austria -so not exactly very far south- and it's been over 30 every day.

I find travel with a baby super easy
they don’t want to walk around or do anything except be held snd sleep

we went to Thailand with our kids age 4months and 3 and had an absolute blast it was the best holiday ever (we had time though a month)

we love going on Eurostar now the baby is 14 months he’s more difficult to fly with - train travel is easier in find

we do holiday parks in France Holland that are reachable by train from london and we love them (follow little clogs on socials) find those holidays easy

We've had great holidays in France, Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Austria. We also fly to the US once a year to see family. Travelling with a baby has not been problematic at all. We use Eurostar where we can, and avoid Southern Europe due to heatwave risk. We've enjoyed Eurocamp holidays and places with theme parks - there are some good ones in the Netherlands.

If you have a decent budget Scott Dunn do the most amazing kids clubs.

I liked the Sun Gardens in Dubrovnik as they had a hotel but also large apartments which makes mornings easy.

Also Pine Cliffs Portugal same set up but also lots of wonderful shade under big pine trees.

both of these you can book by different operators but also via Scott Dunn for access to the kids club.

A cruise was quite easy with kids of this age. We enjoyed the Norwegian fjords
