Kalamaki in Zante. You can see the planes from the pool.

Faro in Portugal

Caletta de Fuste in Fuerteventura we stayed twice at the Barcelo Hotel, walking distance to beach and several restaurants. 20 minutes from airport.

Cala Llonga or Santa Eulalia in Ibiza. Both lovely family resorts and 20-25mins from the airport

devildeepbluesea · 12/08/2025 17:34

Maspalomas Gran Canaria. Although you wouldn’t go there for the scenery, it’s guaranteed heat!

l’d add Es Cana as well. Don’t book a package transfer, always takes longer. Regular bus or taxi from just outside the airport.

Santa Elulia is beautiful but the beach isn’t the most child friendly on the island.

Benalmedena is about 20 mins from Malaga airport and it’s got a marine park, aquarium, butterfly park, cable car, funfair, a castle, boat tours…

MiddleAgedDread · 12/08/2025 19:35

I think pretty much anywhere on Lanzarote is within 45min of the airport! It’s not that big an island and the main tourists resorts are on the south coast closest to the airport.

samarrange · 12/08/2025 20:50

Are you planning on a private transfer? Because any "package-included" transfer can take two hours even if you only go 5 miles, with an hour's wait at the airport while they fill the bus up from several flights and then an hour while you tour all the hotels at the destination.

Also, what dates are you looking at?

mamagogo1 · 12/08/2025 20:57

Ibiza, small island. We were about 35-40 minutes from airport even with traffic. Stayed west of San Antonio, all family hotels (we were in a TUI one)

pinkyponkyplink · 12/08/2025 22:11

Great ideas on here. Thanks so much! Would love to do Ibiza, Spain or Greece. Usually just prefer a package with jet 2 which includes transfers

Lots of nice resorts in Corfu

pinkyponkyplink · 12/08/2025 22:37

Can you recommend somewhere in Corfu please? We live Benalmedina in Spain. Somewhere busy with shops and restaurants at night would be ideal

La Pineda in northern Spain is less than 20 minutes from Barcelona Reus airport.

Lassi or Argostoli in kefalonia is only fifteen minutes from the airport. Fabulous island.

Maddy70 · 13/08/2025 16:59

Malaga
Palma/Palmanova, Majorca
Santa Eulalia, Ibiza
Mahon, Menorca

pinkyponkyplink · 13/08/2025 22:06

@mrsnjwtell me more about Lassi please? Is it lively at night for shops and food? I think I went there about 20 years ago.

About 20 years ago, I went to Kefalonia on a girls holiday. It was quiet where we stayed but at night we used to get a boat about a 20 minute ride from where we were staying to a lovely place with lots of restaurants. Anyone had any idea what it might have been called?

If you stay in lassi you can get a taxi to Argostoli which is the capital of kefalonia. It’s buzzing with loads of children watching stree entertainers. Lassi is quieter but the beaches are fab. The sea is shallow and calm.

Look at public transport, it's often quicker. A few weeks ago we went to Paguera in Mallorca on a jet2holidays package because we wanted something easy that we didn't have to plan too much but the coach transfer on the way out especially was very slow.

But when we walked out of the airport I saw the bus stops for normal buses to the main resorts including where we were staying, so I'm definitely going to look at that next time. I've also seen the same in the Canaries and there's a train from Malaga airport that goes down the coast as far as Fuengirola that gives you a few options.

The A11 bus goes to Peguera every 45 minutes. It's about €4 per person. There are also buses to several other resort areas on Majorca.
