Hotels near Whitby

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a nice hotel for my parents to stay in later this year, close to Whitby area as they are doing a steam train experience.

Does anyone know of any nice hotels in that area or around Robin Hoods Bay etc that would be a nice, treat hotel for them as it is a birthday gift? Ideally walkable into wee shops/cafes etc but would consider further out too.

Thank you!

Have a look at the Raithwaite Estate , have stayed there with family and loved it.

Have a look at Hotel Victoria in Robin Hood’s Bay. Lovely hotel at the top of the town.

Not massively close to either Whitby or RHB but Pickering is a lovely little market town with lots of cafes and small shops. One of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway stations is literally a few mins walk from the town centre. However it depends where on the line the 'experience' starts from I suppose! There are a couple of Inns that are quite nice. The Black Swan and The White Swan are popular and are in the town centre. I haven't stayed in them personally, as we always stay in a little Airbnb cottage there, but the hotel restaurants always look fairly busy when I walk past! I believe they are both on Booking.com. I hope your parents have a lovely time!

The Ellerby Hotel is lovely, it's near to Runswick Bay, just north of Whitby.

Is that the place that's now called Saltmoore? It looks very nice and treaty, and is walkable to the beach and Sandsend, also Whitby if you're more active as I think it's 2-3 miles.

There's a nice fish and chip restaurant/takeaway, couple of pubs and a fancy sandwich shop (Mary's) at Sandsend.

How old are your parents? Would they like a peaceful retreat or somewhere bustling and busy?
