I had planned to go away somewhere in the sun for my upcoming 40th at the end of the month..however due to various reasons this is now looking unlikely. Does anyone have any recommendations of somewhere luxury (perhaps with a pool/hot tub) that I could instead book in the UK please? Could be anywhere in England/Wales and would need to allow children.

This is the first place I thought of, some offers on if you subscribe and 2 potential locations. Not sure if it’s the sort of thing you are after, happy to offer some more alternatives if it’s not quite right.

I went to The Headland in Cornwall for my 40th three years ago. It was bliss, sat in a hot tub watching the sun setting over the sea with a glass of champagne, and thought that it was perfectly relaxing.

Before decided to go away I had been planning a party but just didn’t want the stress of it all in the end.

Another vote for the Headland or Woolacombe Bay Hotel

Burgh island in Devon would be my first thought - great if you like the 1920s (https://www.burghisland.com/)

Also, the Gilmore in the Lake District which has amazing food and hot tubs on the decks of most rooms (plus llamas or alpacas, can’t remember which)

Do you mean Gilpin Lodge in the Lakes.
