Closest hotel is a Hilton and about a 5 minute drive away is a marriott and also the Norton House Hotel. Don't know about the child friendly bit though.

bigspender30 · 30/05/2008 12:36

thanks! The Hilton is mega expensive but Marriott looks ok. Thanks for that!

Sorry, I wasn't very helpful just saying Marriott. If you look up Marriott on Corstorphine Road that is the closest to the Airport.

bigspender30 · 30/05/2008 20:43

I knew the one you meant! The one on Glasgow Road? Its full
However I have found a premier inn? in South Queensferry which claims to be 15 mins from the airport. Would that be right? We will be leaving the hotel at 6.15am so hopefully traffic quiet at that time.

Does it have to be a hotel?? There are countless numbers of b&b's in edinburgh and these are usually family friendly.

beansmum · 30/05/2008 20:52

what about the marriott dalmahoy?

beansmum · 30/05/2008 20:56

I don't know about how child friendly it is, I have never been. But it's very close to my house and my house is very close to the airport.

bigspender30 · 30/05/2008 21:34

oh let me go check!! thanks beansmum!

its full. Doesn't need to be a hotel -just thought that would be easier for going to the airport however I am going to check out b & bs close to the airport. Where to start? Visitscotland?

there is the new one at South Queensferry: dakots - no idea what it's like but doesn't look too pricey

Or in South Queensferry itself: orocco pier - I know it says boutique but we've had plenty of lunches there with little people!

finallypregnant · 31/05/2008 15:30

Have a look at Agenda which is about a further 5 minutes from the Marriott I mentioned at the top

hotels.yell.com/wl/servlet/xmlbrochure/index.do?hotelid=106038&trkref=YLL

As meep said, you'd be ok at Dakota which is about 15 minutes at that time in the morning.

We hate orocco pier so would never recommend it to anyone but I do know lots of people who have been and seem to love it.

Keep posting if you need more help though.

There are several B&B's on Glasgow Road which will come up through yell.com

Try the Quality Inn at Ingliston. It is on the Highland Showground right by the Airport, and I have always found it absolutely superb when I stayed there with my small son.

It is a bit out in the sticks - you have a view of the runway from the from entrance - but they do a shuttle bus service to the airport terminal, which gives you access to all the various bus and taxi services into Edinburgh centre, if that is what you need.

It does get very booked up at the end of June (Royal Highland Show week) but is otherwise pretty accessible.

Booked the Quality Hotel so thanks for all your help and suggestions! You're all stars!
