Anyone know Sheffield? Help needed!!

Taking my mum to see Coldplay in concert (hopefully) in December at Hallam Arena. I have been to Hallam a few times and normally park there as I normally go home (to Hull) after whatever concert I have seen.

I want to stay over in Sheffield with mum in a really nice hotel as the Coldplay concert will be her xmas pressie.

Any recommendations of a good hotel - with access to Hallam Arena as I don't fancy driving back to the hotel and finding my way round Sheffield at night. I plan to drive to the hotel Sunday afternoon and leave car there and get the tram to the Arena hopefully. So somewhere on a tram route would be fab.

Been looking at maps of Sheffield but am confused!

Thanks!!

The Arena is accessble by the tram, so you could look anywhere in the city centre.

What kind of budget?

I will have a think.

Will spend £100ish per room for the one night. Just want a nice hotel with nice breakfast, central for the shops the next day really. Would have looked at cheaper ones but its mum's xmas pressie and she never stays anywhere nice.

Thanks hulababy!

Not stayed in any of these, nor do I know the room rates (there may be deals online if you google too) but you could look at:

Hilton
Leopald Hotel
Mecure St. Pauls
Novotel

They are all city centre.

Novotel is really good. I used to stay there with work. City centre and tram stop is about 300 yds down the road.

Another vote for the Novotel - nice and central with good rooms.
Stayed at the Hilton (when it was Holiday Inn) for work and found it was a bit too far away from city centre.

jakethepeg · 29/05/2008 09:24

Thanks a lot for your suggestions, Novotel is £73 per room inc breakfast which is fab. Tram stop was the main thing I needed to get back from the arena and 300 yards away is great.

I knew I could count on help from Mumsnet!

Cheers all, now I need to make sure I get tickets for Coldplay tomorrow then book it!

Xx

All are within 3-5 minutes of a tram stop, max.
