Is £1500pp for one week at Port orleans riverside with DDP and park tickets good value for 2 adults - not including flights?

Seems fairly reasonable, what dining does it actually include

fatgirlswims · 06/08/2025 16:40

2 quick service and drink, 1 snack, resort cup

Pop century is £200 cheaper but only 1 meal per day. So I think this works out cheaper and I think the hotel is better located?

Ive never been before

I’ve stayed at both and there are upsides to both. POR is a beautiful setting and has a good quick service offering. The small pools amongst the buildings are quiet.
Pop is fun, has a decent quick service and is on the Skyliner route. Great for access to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, which are the more adult orientated parks IMO.
Are you big eaters? A snack credit can be used for breakfast (eg a giant cinnamon roll), then have a QS meal for lunch or dinner. Use the £200 savings to buy extra food as you go, or maybe splurge on a table service meal. The refillable mugs are excellent but can only be used in a resort. We carry ours around, fill with iced water in the parks, then fill up at any of the resorts.
So, in summary, it comes down to extra food or Skyliner access.

wow this is so helpful guys thanks .

Then dining plan at Pop is one meal only ( no alcohol- no cup-no snack!) and we like trying lots of foods! but The Skyliner is interesting!

i also need to look at POR location in realation to Disney springs - is it walkable? I think we would like that

POR is walkable from Disney Springs and there's also a boat transfer from there and POFQ which is much nicer than the buses. I haven't stayed yet (staying at POFQ later this year), but last time we went to Florida we got the bus to POR for a nosey then walked to springs.

Port Orleans Riverside is our favourite. It’s so quiet and relaxing - a little oasis after a day in the parks! While you’re there, take the boat/bus/walk to French Quarter for some beignets because they’re heavenly! The boat to the Springs is nice too, but between it being slow and dropoff location not being great, the bus or Minnie Van are the best options. Pop is known for its loud, energetic atmosphere and is often popular with families with young children.

TianasBayou · 06/08/2025 20:25

I’d say you wouldn’t be walking to Springs, especially if it’s hot or you’ve spend all day in the parks. Is there even a walking path? But Uber/Lyft are plentiful and cheap, and the internal bus service is regular. The boat is nice but takes a while.
On balance with the price, go for POR.

If you have time, you can resort-hop using all the different transport options and check out the options for next time!

It’s definitely not walkable but there is a boat that takes you down there.

both of the port orleans resorts are lovely - if you can splash out for French quarter, it’s much smaller and a really nice place to be

EnglishGirlApproximately · 06/08/2025 20:30

I walked it last time I went! It's about 45 minutes down the river. You wouldn't want to do it every day after the parks but it is doable if you like walking.

fatgirlswims · 06/08/2025 21:06

This is all so amazing it so mind blowingly complicated 😂

I think the POR sounds much more my vibe than the Pop and more adult orientated, less hectic. I will watch some you tube on each POR AND POR FQ. I wasn’t sure about how far it was it just said “Disney springs area” I thought it might have been in the main bit- I do like walking but I think 45 minute (?with no path) may be out!

i definitely want the better dining plan I’ve decided that. I will have a look at in resort travel options but we are suckers for sitting on free transport rather than pay Ubers! Although let’s get an uber is becoming more frequent- we don’t have them at home yet!
