City Break Recommendations

I quite fancy a city break in September/October. 4-5 days somewhere city central with places to visit (ie cultural/history/outdoors) with reasonable weather. Maybe part of a tour.

Thing is I don't know where I'd like to go! Over the years I've been to Berlin, Cologne, Innsbruck, Tallinn, Warsaw, Florence, Helsinki and Copenhagen. I'd like to pick somewhere I've not been before.

Any recommendations?

Krakow?

Seville, especially for the weather - lots to see and easily walkable. Budapest is another favourite.

Barcelona
Rome
Venice
Paris
Lisbon

We went to Granada in February which was amazing. The Alhambra was brilliant if you like architecture or history. It’s doable in 2 days though so if you have longer, you could perhaps combine with Cadiz or Seville.

Rome has so much to see. We spent a week there.

Well Rome is your obvious one. Or Venice.

Barcelona is a very obvious one, but its obvious for a reason. Autumn strikes me as a great time to visit. Warm but not hot and less rammed than summer.

I really enjoyed Athens. The highlights were Acropolis, Plaka and Anafiotika, Acropolis Museum, Agora, Lycabettus Hill and a turtle sanctuary.

Rome
Amalfi Coast if you are ok to travel around yourself
Prague
Munich but avoid Octoberfest dates

Rome, Venice, Budapest or Lisbon. All lovely cities, should all have warm or at least pleasant weather at that time of year.

We have enjoyed…
Porto (compact, easy to get around, lovely riverside places to go port tasting, cheap transfer from airport on the metro)
Malaga (beautiful city/shops/places to eat but it’s also on the coast. Can walk a couple of miles along the sea front to beach areas or get the bus to other resorts)
Seville (beautiful buildings, full of character, tiny local bars, amazing food)
