car hire problem

We're off to Italy on Thursday morning, we're hiring a car at the airport, booked in my name. I've just remembered that my credit card is in my maiden name. Is this going to cause a problem? Can't change it to dh name as he doesn't have a credit card. I wouldn't mind but I never changed my licence to married name but my new one arrived last year with my married name on it! I could show them my old licence with maiden name I guess. What a headache.

We've had problems before where we didn't have a credit card matching the booking before. They held us to ransom and we ended up having to buy their very expensive insurance - the alternative was we cancelled and rebooked.

It was a problem for us in France a few weeks ago. Got persuaded into taking out a further insurance policy which added me as named driver (I wasn't intending on driving)

I don't think that will work for us, we only have one credit card and it's in my name. Drivers licence has my married name. Maybe I should just cancel the car altogether, think we could manage without it.
