Advice - Brazil around RDJ - Paraty and Buzios

Hi folks, looking for advice on these two towns. We're seasoned travellers but only just back flying long haul now our only child is 5. Looks like we could do a fairly handy holiday flying into Rio, spending a few days there and then a few days in Paraty and Buzios. We want a bit of clocks flavour but we've travelled a lot in South America before (pre kids) so we're not trying to maximise on everything, just have a nice time and some cultural experiences!

What does 'We want a bit of clocks flavour' mean?

Paraty is worth a visit... Pretty little town and lots of interesting folklore about it being popular with pirates which might interest your 5 year old.

Recommend This hotel in Paraty. It’s a lovely town to relax in.

@Stichintime I meant to write 'a bit of local flavour'. Damn autocorrect!

@JWR I've seen that hotel recommended and it looks amazing but it's about 500 a night which is quite punchy!!

@TrulyMiss we took DS aged 6 to Rio, Paraty and Buzios…except the weather was so bad we last min swapped paraty for Iguazu which in hindsight was a far better choice for a 6yo. Iguazu has family friendly resort hotels- ours had a water park which was a good change from the waterfall siteseeing.

DS loved Rio and Buzios was a lovely beach holiday- did a boat trip with a slide into the sea which he loved.

Thanks! @Twilightstarbright just wondering how you moved between the different locations? It looks like it might take a few hours for each move! We visited iguazu about 10 years ago - loved the waterfalls but not so much the town so probably wouldn't go back!

We took an uber between Rio and Buzios but there’s coaches and that run, or our hotel could have arranged a transfer but the uberxl was a much nicer car.

Hi.
Would you recommend Rio, Buzios and Iguaza as a good mix for two week trip?
Wondering if you'd recommend anywhere to stay in Iguazu?
Considering it for next year but not sure if it's in my budget :-)
Thank you
