North Tenerife

I’m looking for suggestions for somewhere to stay for a first time visit to Tenerife. Not bothered about the weather difference to the south that I’ve read about, nor beaches, etc. though definitely by the sea.

Somewhere that’s nice to stay but not too busy and accessible to interesting places, walking, maybe wildlife. Added appreciation in advance for any self catering places! I won’t be hiring a car. Thanks in advance!

I’d say Garachico. It’s quite far from the airport but it’s on the main bus route so it’s accessible to lots of other places, and it’s not too far from the Macsa valley and Buenavista del Nor. Both of these places are scenic hiking areas which you can get to by public transport.

Puerto de la Cruz is nice. Lovely old town and black sand beach. In the middle of the island so easy to do day trips. You don't need a car, public transport is excellent.

I like staying at H10 puerto del la Cruz because it’s on the end of the promenade which is lovely opposite the municipal pools overlooking the sea.
