October sunshine, big lap pool?

Hi,

I'm looking for something elusive - a hotel with guaranteed sunshine and heat ideally in Europe (not north Africa) with a good sized lap pool which is not outside hotel rooms so I can swim before breakfast.

My husband has found hotel Annabelle in Cyprus but the indoor pool doesn't look much more than 8 or 10m.

Could do Carribean, but the hotels with good lap pools are behemoth hotels for the US market.

We like Mr & Mrs Smith type places.

Would also consider a villa if the pool is over 12m long.

Has anyone stayed anywhere like this?

It can be indoor or out so long as I can do my lengths everyday!

Don’t have anywhere in mind but I also get frustrated at not being able to swim before 10 on holiday. When I’ve had a great night sleep I often fancy a swim before breakfast. I sometimes run instead but it can be hard to get out while it’s still cool enough.

Nielson levante beach club (rhodes so will be nice in october) has 2 x 25m outdoor pools. You'd need to contact them to check whether they're usable before 10am but I would expect they are.

I wouldnt call it a Mr&Mrs Smith type place though!

Mulledjuice · 27/07/2025 09:58

Would you not do your swim in the sea?

Notsurewheretostarthere · 27/07/2025 11:15

@Mulledjuice no, I am not an open water swimmer! I don't do fish, jellyfish, seaweed, urchins or any other attacking natural substance!

I just like to leave DH in bed and get my exercise done pre breakfast so I can relax.

Thanks for the link!

@itsgettingweird thank you!

Atlantica imperial in Rhodes. Not quite Mr and Mrs Smith but definitely nicer than The Annabelle. It has a nice indoor pool with big glass doors that open. Not sure on size of it but it’s always empty when I’ve been there. They’ve got a smaller outdoor heated one too but again not sure on size.

HelloHattie · 27/07/2025 11:25

Actually just had a look and don’t think it’ll be big enough. If I think of any others I’ll come back. Rhodes is lovely in October.

Mummyslittlegiraffe · 27/07/2025 11:32

Levante as PP said is brilliant, the lane pool is heated (other pools aren’t). From memory you have to wait for the lifeguard to be on duty though, can’t remember what time that was I’m afraid.

Notsurewheretostarthere · 27/07/2025 11:47

@HelloHattie thank you that looks amazing!

Club Maspalomas Suites has a semi Olympic pool with lanes as part of the gym, which opens at 7am

Forgottenmyphone · 27/07/2025 13:17

Also, the indoor serenity pool at Alexander the Great in Paphos opens at 8 and I could do lengths there.

Notsurewheretostarthere · 27/07/2025 13:33

@Forgottenmyphone thank you so much!

There's an outdoor Olympic pool at Coral Beach near Paphos.

Barcelo Active resort in Lanzarote. Joint their loyalty scheme & then book your accommodation directly with the hotel - it’s much cheaper than booking with a travel agent

Sandals Barbados has a really long lagoon pool, I absolutely loved it as it’s rare to be able to do such a long swim without having to stop/turn around etc.

Notsurewheretostarthere · 28/07/2025 10:42

@AvidJadeShaker
Thanks so much.

I've also written to the Annabelle and they said the indoor pool is open 8-8 and is adults only and is 14m long, in case that's of any interest to fellow swimmers!!

If you would consider it the intercontinental Muscat has a lane pool it’s between 20-25m, can quite remember now. It’s chilled and so refreshing. It’s seen more as part of the gym than the swim complex

Club Letoonia is a beautiful hotel in Fethiye, Turkey which has a semi indoor lane pool as well as several resort pools. Flights are to Dalaman. Highly recommend it!

Ooh I went there about 20 years ago. It’s gorgeous, I loved peeping over my balcony to see what the munching noises were to find tortoises pottering around eating the vegetation. I’m fairly certain I named a few of them 🤣

The King Evelthon Hotel in Paphos has a massive outdoor pool, it's not heated but will be fine if you're swimming lengths. Their indoor pool is also big, probably around 15m - no idea what time it opens in the morning though.

SaffyWall · 28/07/2025 17:05

I know you asked for October sunshine which makes Paris a poor choice but the Hotel Molitar has the most amazing pool - perfect for pre-breakfast laps!

I went to Rhodes mid October and though aur temp was fine at 24 the pool was freezing. I'd go to Mexico.

tanstaafl · 28/07/2025 17:17

Mallorca, Port d’Alcudia, Zafiro Tropic has a 6 lane 25m outdoor pool, 5ft deep ( if you want to tumble turn ).
It’s very popular hotel with the cyclist fraternity.

i think October weather can be mixed though.

itsgettingweird · 28/07/2025 19:42

Gloria sports arena in Turkey also do swimming holidays if you want to go serious!

DS did a training camp out there a few years ago.
