Geneva restaurant

DH and I are doing a cycling holiday in early September for our anniversary and have one night stay in Geneva on the way and wanted to book a restaurant. Due to various reasons finances are a bit tight at the moment so looking for the impossible equation of reasonably priced and an experience (because of anniversary). Does such a thing exist in Geneva (which I know is notoriously expensive)?

Restaurant Edelweiss if you are prepared for a full-on cheesy (literally and metaphorically) Swiss evening, with yodelling, alpenhorn and accordion accompaniment. We had a thoroughly entertaining time last month. The chocolate fondue is excellent!

Check the area around the university. DD was a student there and said the only “cheaper” eats were there.

Picnic by the lake? Or you can get the boat to Nyon and picnic on the boat (you're allowed to take your own food) and get a nice ice cream there before you come back?

I work in Geneva, but I can't actually think of anywhere cheap/decent/suitable. I very rarely eat out in town😅I will try to ask around, see if anyone has any bright ideas.

Le Relais d’entrecote does a set menu but it is not cheap to eat out in Geneva.

Not “cheap” but Chinese and Burger places are decent value around the university (not McDonalds) and no tipping in Switzerland. Found quite a few I’d happily go to.
