Stop off between Dieppe and Il de Re

Could anyone reccomend a one night stop off between dripped and il de re? We are a family of 6 and would love to break the journey at a pretty village or town where we could perhaps have dinner/wander around. Would love it to be a great part of our holiday rather than just a motel on the side of the road

Saumur is lovely and can be on the way, looking at the three routes google suggests. We stayed at the Flowers chalet campsite on the island in the river that was walkable to town, but there are also two-star hotels near Saumur. Or AirBnB. Saumur is a small lively town and has a chateau, market etc.

Hotel Ricordeau is very family friendly and has rooms which accommodate 6. It has a large garden with pool, outdoor games (swing, balls, table tennis table, etc.) and my dc met two friendly goats on our last stay! It’s within walking distance of shops and a handful of restaurants, but I’d definitely recommend eating at the hotel as the chef gives children a tour of the kitchen and my dc were also given a chef’s hat!!

Honfleur is so nice but only 1.5hrs away from Dieppe, so possibly not far enough to break the journey?

Angers is a lovely place to stop - a town rather than a village though. It's got an amazing castle in the centre which looks spectacular at night.

Second Saumur and was going to suggest the same site which has lodges.
Plenty of hotels in the town centre and a bit further out NW along the river is an Huttopia site we’ve stayed in.
