My family would like a weeks holiday next summer in Switzerland ideally.
We like to travel by train and see beautiful places.
We aren't beach/sunbathing people but enjoy a pool.
Would be be best getting a villa or a hotel b&b?
I'd like to not have to cook tbh! :)
And recommendations?
Anything to avoid?
Thanks!

For a pool I think a hotel.

Yes, I think so, too

I stayed at Beau-Rivage Palace Hotel in
Lausanne. It has a lovely indoor and outdoor pool, it’s near a promenade for walks along the lake. You can take a ferry to
Evian, boat trips with stunning scenery plus walk to the Olympic Museum. I did beautiful train journeys and the metro and buses are free in Lausanne if you stay in a hotel there.

How old are your dc? I’ve got some hotel recommendations from when we went inter-railing, but our dc were quite young and not sure they would be suitable for older children.

There was a thread about a possible trip to Switzerland here recently (I fancy a holiday with lovely views I think it was called). That would have information.

Train travel is so easy and efficient in Switzerland. It's the best way to travel. We went to Interlaken and travelled around the Jungfrau region (Bernese Oberland) including a day trip to Bern. Lots to do in the area.

On the other thread, I recommended a couple of Youtube channels to follow for more information. I also found Tripadvisor Switzerland forums very helpful while planning - I posted a potential itinerary and had suggestions for improvements and best rail passes, etc.

Wow, thank you!
Dc are young adult and teen and fairly(!) easy going :)

Years ago (2000) we stayed at wilderswil and had a lovely holiday but fine dining would be lost on my dc 🙄

Look at the Wellness Hostel 4000 in Saas-Fee. It has a pool and adults can pay extra for spa board. The evening meal is decent and reasonably priced (for Switzerland).

If you like trains, there are some amazing journeys from Interlaken. It’s a good hub to access mountain railways. We actually stayed in a nearby village Boningen by lake Brienz but it didn’t have a pool. Others do in the area and there is an acqua park I believe. Worth a look. Not sure about restaurants but you could check out public pools too and rent a holiday home.

Many resorts have public pools, often included in local resort passes, so you could air bnb and use those or there may be lake bathing. Recommend Bernese Oberland - Wengen, Grindelwald, Interlaken etc - for scenery, mountain trains, iconic views (007 Schilthorn or Jungfraujoch), waterfalls, activities etc.
