TravelBag - or book direct? Thailand

Hello,
We are on the brink of booking our holiday for November to Thailand.

It's not too complicated, we are there for two weeks, three hotels, flying in and out of Bangkok with two internal flights, Bangkok to Krabi and back.

I have priced it up myself and I also have a quote from TravelBag. The costs are pretty much the same, TravelBag may be a little bit more, but not much.

I'm wondering about the pros and cons of booking direct or with TravelBag.

Pros I can think of are the security or booking with an agent who would hopefully help if something isn't right, they book the transfers too.

Cons - maybe a little more expensive but I don't think by much. Cancellation fees - a lot of the hotels you can cancel quite close to the arrival date whereas TravelBag's policy is more strict. Not that I can see us having to cancel but you never know.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Any views would be appreciated!

The main benefit is ATOL protection and PTR regulations really if the cost is similar.
I know lots of people will say you get the same level of cover paying by credit card and financially it can be as good, but what you don't get is an operator responsible for helping should anything not go to plan. Only you can decide if that's valuable to you or not.

We always book with a company with ATOL protection. Last year when Microsoft blew the internet, our plane was cancelled. We were stuck in Gran Canaria and Tui put us up in a hotel for five days and paid all our expenses and then flew us home. If we had travelled independently we would have been left to our own resources.

@EnglishGirlApproximately and @Rocknrollstar thank you! I agree and think it's the best way, especially as the cost is pretty similar. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
