Centreparks De Haan is only about an hour or so from Calais. It’s Belgium not France but could work?

Thanks I'll have a look, would prefer France as my little boy is determined to go there!!

We stayed inland from the Opal coast a few times when the kids were tiny, travelling through the tunnel and up to an hours drive from Calais.

Always booked a self catering gite then did day trips to the coast to the beaches at Hardelot and Berck.

Really lovely holiday memories and minimal stress.

We had a picnic at Le Touquet Paris Plage when we were driving through France. It seemed very nice and not far from the Tunnel.

Belle Dune Pierre et Vacances at Fort Mahon Plage just south of Le Touquet. Quaint villas around a lake with a kids clubs, teen clubs, activities and a brilliant water park with a wave pool not for the faint hearted.

We’ve been 3 times with the kids over the past 15 years.

oh no! We last went three years ago. I’ll take a look.

I’ve read the first few reviews about the bar service. Yes, the staff aren’t that helpful.

The set up is that individual people own each house and rent it out to visitors through Belle Dune who manage the site. There is a basic standard of quality and yes, the decor can seem a bit tired but the houses that we’ve stayed in have always been very clean.

Yes, English is limited but staff DO speak English as the site hosts visitors from Belgium and Germany. I met a German couple who were upset because the staff wouldn’t speak German to them and they didn’t speak any French at all. I speak more French than my husband but he was always the one who went to Reception to check us in and he managed fine.

If you do book then DM me or come back to this thread and I’ll go through the check in process and how to find the actual reception!! It’s car free so you have to walk a lot (hence why I stayed in the car park with the kids while DH walked to Reception) - I can tell you the details later.

If you’re looking for a quaint, casual, child-friendly experience then this is perfect. If you’re looking for Club Med quality then it definitely won’t live up to that.

We are staying between Berck and Fort Mahon later this summer. Looks to be big sandy beaches around there. Though Berck town doesn't look too pretty. Planning on going yo Bagatelle theme park and going to view the seals just outside Berck

Dol de Bretagne the eurocamp Domaines des Ormes near the ferry is brilliant - so many facilities .
