Things to do in Kefalonia

Family of 8 going in a fortnight, we have booked Fiskardo and caves trips but any other activities/trips/suggestions gratefully received! Two grumpy teens, two tweens, two grandparents and a grumpy husband who doesn’t want to come due to teenage dramas. Help me! 🙈

Best thing we did was on our last day.... A half day kayak group tour with Sea Kayaking Kefalonia. We still talk about it 7 years later! Absolutely wonderful day.
Also drove up to the top of Mount Ainos and hiked/walked the loop around the south and north side of the mountain. Absolutely incredible.

Kefalonia is gorgeous.
Melissani lake and Drogarati caves are a great trip.
Hire a car and explore. Anti Samos beach near Sami is gorgeous and a fun!!! ? drive to the beach.
Argostoli is lovely for shopping and lunch. We caught the ferry across from there to Lixouri and went to Xi beach. Honestly, just exploring is great.
Get your teens and tweens to search on instagram for places to visit.

with all those whingers going along I would get up early and get myself to argostoli and sit on the harbour with a coffee watching the turtles around the boats for an hour! You deserve some peace, it’s your holiday too!

Get a ferry from Sami to Ithaca for the day, very pretty island.

I second a trip to Ithaca. It’s a lovely place.
The trip to Fiskardo is lovely too. Stunning scenery.
We find the roads on Kefalonia a bit scary to drive on if you are renting a car. They can be quite narrow and steep. But we are a bit wimpy about these things. I posted about this before and folks disagreed with me

Best trip we had in Kefalonia was a fishing trip. Small numbers maybe max 12 people. Husband and wife, they cook for you on board with the fish caught, fruit, veg and wine from their allotment. Stops for swimming and you can help with the fishing if you want to. It was so relaxing and fun. We all still say it was the best day in Kefalonia. Kids of varying ages from 5-16 all loved it.

Another vote for Ithaca. It must be ten years since we were there and I still can't believe how beautiful it was! Loved Fiskardo too although it gets very busy when there are boat trips visiting. Assos is beautiful.
