First family holiday recommendations?

We're looking to book a holiday for myself, DH and our two DC (aged 3 and 6), looking to travel around April/May time next year. somewhere within about a 3 hour flight time, not too long a transfer (preferably max of an hour), things for the kids to do, although as long as there's a pool they'll be easily entertained and somewhere we can walk into town/restaurants/shops. Temperatures around mid to high 20's would be fab.
everything I've came close to booking something has put me off wether that's been reviews, transfer time etc
just looking for some recommendations of where you have been with young children, Thankyou!

At those ages I’d actually look at driving to Brittany (but later in the summer) if you are Manchester or south let’s say (perhaps too far from Scotland), overnight ferry from Portsmouth to st malo then a short drive. Choose a holiday village, campsite style place near a beach. Slightly further let in the Vendee and I recommend La tranche sur mer, lovely beach and a pleasing microclimate. You throw everything in the car, no need to worry about weight, carting car seats onto planes etc, can take wetsuits, water toys etc and it’s your car so no faff with gearstick being on wrong side!

Thanks @minnienonoi hadn't even considered ferrying somewhere, will have a look into your recommendations!

I think mid-high 20's would be pushing it in Brittany at that time of year, you'd be lucky to hit 20 based on this. Saint-Malo, Ille-et-Vilaine, France Monthly Weather | AccuWeather
Even the spanish and french resorts on the Med can be hit n miss at that time of year, particularly Easter. There's also going to be a difference in going somewhere in the Easter holidays and May half term break - Easter could be more like mid teens - 20 and May is more likely to hit the mid 20's.
At Easter I would stick to the Canaries but they'll be stretching your flight time to more like 4 hours depending on where you start from in the UK.

Yeah if you want those temps then you need to fly south. Canaries....Cyprus maybe although no experience of that island.

We were on Corfu end of May and it wasn't that hot, I wouldn't have bothered going there any earlier in the year. Sea and pool were bloody freezing. So do your research into heated children's pools at least!

Have a look at Royal Son Bou in Menorca. It’s one of the most family friendly hotels we’ve been to and it’s only 30 mins from the airport. There’s not a lot to do locally, but there’s more than enough to occupy the dc at the hotel. The kids pool is heated, which is not all that common I’ve found!

You need Turkey, Cyprus, Canaries etc that time of year. I’d use an AI with good kids club (Scott Dunn are great kids clubs)

Menorca is perfect for a first family holiday, however temperatures aren’t mid to high twenties in April/May as a rule. It would need to be towards the latter end of. May at least for that.

A villa in the Algarve.

We went three times to Menorca when ours were little. Cala Galdana, Punta Prima and En Castelle.

You're pushing it for mid to high 20s within 3 hours at that time, as others have said.

I'd go in mid to late May, albeit the May half term will bump prices up, and look at southern Spain or the Balearics for your best chance of high 20s. Lots of southern Spain is close to an airport but check the transfer times carefully as some resorts are further. I really like the Algarve at that time but it might be a bit cooler there. Not so much the weather but the pool. How are you and yours in colder pools?

Cala d'Or in Mallorca is very family friendly and about an hour direct from the airport, you might look there or in that general south east Mallorca area. I don't think anywhere in Ibiza is more than about 45 minutes direct from the airport. The nice thing about the Balearics is the flight is so easy.
