We (me, DH, teenage DS and slightly younger DD) are going to be in Slovenia later this month, with 3 nights in Ljubliana followed by 4 nights in the mountains about 1.15 hour's drive from Lake Bohinj. We will be hiring a car on our last day in Ljubliana to drive to the mountains.
I gather that 2 days is enough time to see Ljubliana so on our third day I was thinking of a day trip, either to Lake Bled (had originally planned to go there for the day while in the mountains - by car - but am now thinking it might be better to do as a day-trip from Ljubliana by bus rather than stressing trying to find parking etc as I'm sure it will be heaving with tourists like ourselves) - or to Postojna caves, also by bus from Ljubliana.
I am now torn between the two. The reason for going to Bled from Ljubliana would be it would free us up in the mountains to spend more time at and around Lake Bohinj which I understand is much lovelier than Bled! On the other hand, people say Postojna is unmissable. DC have never been to a cave before....Any thoughts?!
