Adult only long haul recommendations - October

Our dc are now at university and dh and I are thinking about a trip away together. I’ve spent hours asking ChatGPT but no luck so far! Someone suggested thebodyholiday in St Lucia the other day and that’s the type of thing we want but it’s too expensive.

We want sun and warmth in October.
not Europe
Hiking or cycling
A beach - ideally with snorkelling, kayaking
Nice food - ideally all inclusive but not a grotty buffet
Budget for the hotel approx £2000

Any suggestions? Actual resorts would be appreciated

Mauritius ticks all of those boxes. Incredible value for long haul. Beautiful beaches and water, but also inland scenery and trekking for those who fancy it. The LUX resorts are always a winner. Go on BA packages and you can view by price and then filter by reviews / what appeals to you.

If you want more adventurous on the hiking and inland sightseeing side Reunion is incredible for its scenery, but you’re less likely to be getting in the water there.

Castara Retreats in Tobago. I doubt there is cycling but it ticks your other boxes. Very relaxing, beautiful and so friendly. The restaurant is amazing.

Neilsons in Turkey? Can’t remember the resort name

Does it have to be adults only? We recently stayed at the Rixos Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi and it was beautiful. All inclusive - 4 restaurants, all high end branded drinks.

the beach is simply stunning - like the Maldives. You can cycle round the formula 1 track two evenings a week and probably elsewhere. Hotel has lots of sports activities on. Kayaking can be done at the Mangrove park which we didn’t get to do but looks beautiful. There is SO much to do in the area.

we are an adult couple with no kids and found the adults only sections there very good but it is a family friendly hotel and there are many children around but didn’t bother us.

thanks so much - doesn’t have to be adults only, but we want to be able to get away from kids!

I second Mauritius! Possibly also Jamaica, or Mombasa, Kenya.

We go to various Sandals in the Caribbean often. Watersports, snorkelling and diving are all included in the price. Not too expensive out of season, which October would be,

No nasty buffets, loads of great restaurants and most importantly for us, no kids.

Seychelles would be perfect. Base yourselves in Mahé and get a car to go exploring. Then boat trips over to Praslin and La Digue to do the crystal kayaks. The beaches are insane and the vibe is cool 😎 Have a look at the Bliss Hotel in Bau Vallon. Get a beach side room right on Glacis beach.
