SNOW guaranteed Austrian Holiday in Feb

Looking at snowy holidays for Feb next year. Overwhelmed with options online and wondered if any of you have been to Austria? If so which part? It has to be snowy though! Not fussed on skiing! Thank you

If you want to be absolutely, cast-iron, world-to-end-if-it doesn't happen, guaran-freaking-teed that there will be the amount of snow that counts as "a winter wonderland", then do not choose anywhere that does not have accessible terrain (which in practice means the top of a ski lift) at or above 2,500 metres.

You will "probably" get away with 2,000 metres, but the climate is pretty messed up right now and even if it gets cold enough below 2,500 you cannot be sure that there will have been precipitation in the previous couple of weeks.

what @samarrange says, higher the better basically. Best chance of snow is early February too, by March days are lengthening and can be a bit melty, earlier than last week of Jan and the snow may not have built up enough yet. Ski season is pretty short some years. Personally I’d consider waiting until near the time as is varies a lot from year to year

I’ve had mixed experiences with Austria. A lot of resorts are low lying and need cable cars or ski lifts to get up the mountain - Kitzbuhl is one, Zell am See is another. There way be a run into town in theory but in practice, less so.
In contrast St Anton has ski-in-ski-out for some areas so snow is more certain.
I now prefer high resorts so usually go to the guaranteed spots in France and Switzerland, even in February. It’s too expensive to be worrying about snow.

We went to Obergurgl late in the season this year. Think it was first week of April. There was still heaps of snow when we arrived, big dumps that week but it was very warm at the end of the week, birds started singing! I'm pretty sure you'd have good snow there in February. We loved it.

If you arent bothered about skiing but want snow what about basing in Innsbruck. There is a mountain accessible by cable car which has snow almost all year and some skiing. Then easy trips to the hintertux glacier region close by and other mountain top areas.

I looked into Innsbruck, it looks lovely but don't know if there will be snow there 🤔

No skiing, I'm like Bambi on ice 😂but like the look of doing a toboggan ride and sledding

That changes everything if you just want a slope to toboggan on, no need to go to the highest resorts with a glacier.
You are looking for typical tyrol type villages, & don't need to go to the High guaranteed snow resorts (Tignes, Courchevel etc !)

If you just want snow, I’d skip the ski resorts and go to Lapland. You’ll pay a massive premium to be in a ski resort and not ski! Look at Rovaniemi or Saariselka.

There is unlikey to be snow in innsbruck but you have a wide range of possibilities for snow within an hours travel.
