WWYD - 5 or 7 nights ?

Please help me rationalise this (either way)!

Limited to school holidays (staff) so this August is only option for a holiday. No kids. DH is working Oct half term and Christmas we are staying with family. A Very limited budget this year.

I have found a cheap package deal with Tui. Thing is 7 nights isn’t that much more than 5.
7 nights costs £200 more but comes with hold bags. 5 days only comes with the smaller size cabin bags - it’s £100 for hold luggage.
However we do potentially get a better room with the 5 nights.

It’s £140 for airport parking for 7 days as opposed to £80 for 5 and obviously we will end up spending even more money on the two extra days out there.

Also I’m not sure DH will actually like the resort ( it’s a bit tacky and it’s high season with lots of kids). 5 nights seems like a compromise - a bit cheaper and it’s still an “abroad” holiday.
But 7 nights feels like a better deal especially as both holidays are massively cheaper when the schools go back.

Please help me make a choice!!

5 days wouldn’t be enough for me. But I go for 3 weeks.

Where are you looking to go? Does it have to be a busy resort that you think will be tacky? There’s a big world out there, why not find some cheap flights and a little independent hotel or an apartment. You can pick up cheap bits to eat in a supermarket.

EasyJet are selling off flights. Where are you flying from? Luton to Ibiza for £58 return.

Yes normally we do longer holidays or a couple of shorter ones.
This year all the money is going on nights away, meals out etc for other people . It’s a big year of weddings, significant family birthdays, graduations etc.
All lovely just want to go somewhere with a beach to relax with just DH.

I have looked at all the options in all the countries that have sun, decent food and that we haven’t already done to death. These are the cheapest honestly. In fact the exact same flights separately come in £150 cheaper than the hotel plus transfers so I’d be hard pushed to find somewhere to stay for that.

@fruitbrewhaha
Yes ours are on sale with EasyJet.
I looked at other places. Those are real bargains but even with the cheapest flights (£22 out £24 return each) I would want the larger cabin bag and that pushed the price up to £258. So that leaves £500 for accommodation - again probably only the choice of 5 -7 nights .

5 nights is really only 4 days - that wouldn't be a holiday to me, just a short break.

AvidJadeShaker · 06/07/2025 23:10

7 days and see if you can get a better parking deal.

Against popular opinion I went for 5.Just because I think I think it’s outside DH comfort zone.
Both holidays have gone up
in price ( air fares rises).
We do get 5 whole days due to the last day being a very late flight.
I think a weeks at work feels long so I think a working week away will be the same.
