Where can I take my 3 yo on a trip to see snow this winter?

any suggestions? I’d love to just have a few days - a week in the snow, preferably somewhere with great views (lakes and mountains) although open to other suggestions (but not a ski holiday) Feel like it should also be somewhere close to a couple of exciting places we could take her (farms/zoos/adventure parks etc). ..although this isn’t essential as i’m sure we can entertain her in the snow.

we want to go early/mid December, not arctic circle etc as days would be too short.

has anybody done anything similar and found somewhere specific that’s great for kids and also really picturesque? Tia

Fly to Geneva and go somewhere close by?

Scotland.

Aviemore would be a good base. Depending on where you are setting off the Caledonian sleeper might be fun for your 3 year old.

No guarantee that Scotland will have snow in early December! Aviemore is probably the best bet but often our snow comes in January

Even the Alps is not guaranteed snow by early December unless you go to a glacier. A lot of ski resorts will not have lifts running unless decent snow has fallen and even then only weekends.

I think arctic would be your best bet to be as snow sure as possibly. I know nights are long but places are very well lit and there's is lots and lots and lots to do for kids that isn't skiing. Can be bloody cold though and 3 is very little.

Sinaia Romania. You can get a cable car over the mountains and there is a cave which is extremely scenic to drive to.

Pestera ialomite but you’d need to hire a car.

This. With climate change, the winter season in the Alps seems to have shifted quite a lot. You'd have a better chance in February or even April.

And it would be slightly ironic to fly there to see rapidly diminishing glaciers 😬

(This is my regular reminder that it's pretty easy to get to the Alps by train. We got to see our snow in April by train, above Innsbruck. We had to get a cable car to about 2200m, on a mountain called Patscherkoffel. We were so lucky- I had been obsessively watching the Patscherkoffel webcam for months, and over many periods there had been no or patchy snow, but when we turned up there had been a fresh dump, the sky had cleared and there was bright sunshine. It was beautiful!)

Thanks all, really good suggestions. Might be an idea to put off until next year looking at your advice
