UK to Thailand in 6 days. Is this crazy?

A few years ago a good friend of mine moved to Phuket. In November she has asked a couple of us to come visit. I would love to go, but between my work and childcare situations (I have a 4yo and a 6yo) the longest I could go would be 6 days, which realistically given travel times to London then to Thailand it would mean 4 days in Phuket.

My friends think this is crazy - but they don’t have kids and perhaps don’t realise how impossible longer would be (or how peaceful a longhaul flight sounds). Accommodation would be free and flights aren’t that much (about £600).

is this worth doing? Or will it all be too cramped to actually be a good experience. I feel out of the habit of travel having just done UK holidays for the last few years.

TIA!

I went to Tokyo for three nichts when I had the chance, was an amazing trip.

Absolutely go. I did Melbourne for 7 nights a few years ago. Felt rough as when I came home but wouldn’t change a thing.

If you fancy it, and can afford it, go for it!
Of course it's slightly bonkers.
You've got a 4 and 6 yr old - the flights will be (cramped) bliss (well maybe the first 6 hours) - films, food, no interruptions.
You'll catch up on sleep quickly being used to broken nights and have loads of fun with friends.

I would move heaven and earth to stretch to 10 days at least... 💐

People do business trips for much shorter periods all the time. I once went to Australia and back in 6 days. At least you won't have to work when you get there.

I'd do it. It's fine as long as you don't need to 'recover' from a flight! I've done San Francisco for 3 days and it was fine.
