Copenhagen for a weekend

Hi

Me and DH are having a weekend in Copenhagen. It's the first time either of us have been so have no idea what to expect.

What is there to see and do? I've noted the Botanical Gardens, will happily wanted around the streets and the waterfront etc.

Food wise - vegan - and I see there are plenty of places so that's good.

What else should we see/do? We aren't going until early August - hoping the weather will be pleasant.

Definitely do a canal cruise. They only last about an hour so won’t take up too much if your time, but it’s a great way to see some of the main sites like the Little Mermaid and Amalienborg Castle.

Tivoli is another must-visit and it’s open really late - until midnight on Fridays and Saturday (it will get darker much later than the UK). It’s magical in twilight when the pretty lights start coming on. Great atmosphere, lots to see and do.

Stroll (or take a walking tour if you can) around Freetown Christiana. It’s got a really unique vibe and some amazing street art to check out. I bet you’ll be able to find lots of vegan food there too.

Copenhagen is fab. Get the copenhagen card and pick it up at the airport and it covers public transport and majority of museums. We enjoyed an outing to the Heineken brewery amongst other things.

Thank you for the replies.

re: Tivoli - I had a look on the website- and see it has many eateries etc, but I got the impression it was more of a theme park, with rides. Is there something I am missing?

A canal cruise is definitely something we'd both enjoy. Will check those out

Take your swim kit and if the weather is good take the train / S toget to the beach at Klampenborg / Bellevue Strand, and then wander down the coast to Oliver’s garage and get one of the best ice creams in town.

We walked and walked and walked and occasionally hopped on and off the metro or the boat “bus”. There’s so many nice parks and gardens. The botanics aren’t very big but it’s free to enter. 7-11 shops and Netto are everywhere and good for snacks, drinks and food to go to save on the cost of eating out. Lots of hotels have bikes to hire, or there’s some of those city bike hire schemes too. Amagar Strandpark by the coast is nice for a ride. If you don’t want to go on the rides I don’t think Tivoli is worth the entry cost.
