DIY Seychelles

So we have decided that the USA road trip we planned for next year is a bit steep cost wise as has other European weekend breaks in with family and Jamaica in Feb for wedding so have been considering other options.

We DIY’d a Vietnam trip last year and was fabulous.

While checking out YouTube and other sites online have stumbled across the Seychelles. Having been to the Maldives I thought it was a similar ilk - a flop n drop/honeymoon destination with beautiful barefoot resorts and amazing snorkelling but little else.

Just had a look at the Seychelles and was blown away at the beaches, rock formations, wild life, green scenery, hiking trails etc.

Just had a quick recky - for a 10 day trip island hopping between Mahe (5 nights) , Preslin )3 nights) and LaDigue (2 nights) for DH and I -

Flights around 2000 economy class obvs (got tonnes of avois points so can upgrade seats to economy plus- or business class if we want to burn the lot I suppose)

Accommodation all in , mid range self catering /b n b hotels 1000. May splurge on last few days in a luxury resort but see nearer the time .

Ferries between the islands 250 all in

Car hire 400 all in ( in La Digue)
it’s all bikes not cars I believe)

So with flights, accommodation, ferry transfers and car hire that’s coming out at £3650

Even With a healthy daily budget on for food and drink /national park passes/ snorkelling boat trips etc , can’t quite get my head around it being quite so accessible!!

Any tips from anyone who has done similar ??

Bumping for you, it's 30 years since I went but there was a good trade in electronics then, we took £20 sandwich toasters which we swapped for dives.

We loved the Botanical garden in the capital which was cheap to enter and didn’t prebook trips to other islands as it was cheaper to pick up an offer the day before. La Digue and the Coco de Mere forests of Praslin were spectacular.
