4 weeks family travel, summer 2026

I have an opportunity to take 4 weeks off in summer 2026 and want to make the most of travelling as a family.

We have travelled a lot in SE Asia but that would still be a contender, but I’d love any other suggestions for trips with our 6 and 8-year-olds.

What have been your best ‘longer’ travel trips with kids? Just looking for inspiration this point and maybe somewhere we hadn’t considered before!

My kids are younger than yours but I would be considering Oz and NZ. Although winter time there. Lots to do with kids that age. Also
you could break the trip up with Singapore and Dubai along the way which are family friendly. That’s what I plan to do with mine when they get to this age. X

Best longer trips:
Hoi an, hue, Hanoi, Luang Prabang, Bangkok and Hong Kong.
brunei, Sabah and Hong Kong.
perth and Broome - hot and dry in Broome and dry, but cool in Perth.
