Mallorca in September with toddler and cousin

We are looking to go to Mallorca in September, first time, have never been in my life, with my partner and our 1.5 yrs old baby and my cousin, who would like a room with a private swimming pool if possible (her budget is much bigger than ours)
We would be looking to be in a room close to her, it does not have to have a private swimming pool, a king size bed would be nice
Ideally looking for minimal transfer time, but would compromise for the right hotel. Do taxis have car seats, can you order one with a car seat? Or do you suggest we hire a car with a car seat?
Ideally we want to relax, so we will not be exploring much I dont think
Which hotel feels baby and family friendly but not boring for my single cousin?

Many thanks

We stayed in Viva Sunrise in Puerto Alcudia and got a private hot tub balcony if that would suit your cousin? We stayed there when our little one was 2.5 and it was a great hotel for him.

Little tip of booking as self-catering and upgrading to all-inclusive when you get there as it's cheaper than booking all-inclusive through the travel agents.

It was a short walk to a lovely stretch of beach, although the immediate area around the hotel wasn't that picturesque. Alcudia old town wasn't too far and also recommend Puerto Pollensa and Pollensa old town. There's buses to both if you don't want to hire a car.

I've also stayed in Puerto Pollensa itself and really like that area more than any other in Mallorca but we stayed in a villa with friends and what I found since having a toddler is that hotels are much easier with little ones (as long as you have a decent balcony you can escape to with a cocktail on an evening after they go to bed)

Otherwise I'd check out Cala D'or as a potential resort, family friendly vibe (although a bit tourisy) but some really beautiful little horse shoe beaches like Cala Esmerelda. (We stayed in the Esmerelda hotel as a couple before kids but it was pretty basic) Hope you find what you're looking for and have a lovely holiday. Xx

Also I believe you are allowed to take your own car seat on the plane as baby equipment? We hired a car with car seat (although it was very basic) so didn't do this. Xx

Zafiro Palace Andratx is only 30 mins from the airport. Some of the rooms have private plunge pools. It would be perfect for your situation because there’s an adult-only pool and restaurant, plus a baby pool and family dining.

I know Mallorca very well, and a lot of the hotels with rooms that have private pools will still be £££ even for a standard room, so that could be an issue depending your budget. If it’s not an issue then look at the Zafiro Palace hotels.

We always hire a car with a car seat now we have DS. I don’t trust baggage handlers to handle our own car seat safely and it not get dropped so I’d never dream of taking our own.

Thank you, where would you hire the car from?
I found Zafiro Palace Alcudia, is there many more? yes they are expensive but I will see if they have any offers etc...

Car seats are required in taxis under Spanish law. The taxis at Palma airport have access to a pool of seats of all shapes and sizes. For the return, you would order a taxi through your hotel and specify the seats you need.

Renting a car seat can be expensive. But you can take your own on the plane for free (even with low-cost airlines, even with the dreaded Ryanair) — just carry it to the gate and they will put it in the hold, and you collect it at the far end.

my cousin, who would like a room with a private swimming pool if possible (her budget is much bigger than ours)

A private swimming pool — big enough to actually swim even just a couple of strokes in, rather than just sit and cool off — is really going to jack up the price. You are likely going to be in the €1500/night category with the footballers and other slebs, somewhere like Cap Rocat. At that point the difference between a room with and without a private pool is not going to be huge. (Oh, and it's a 15-minute taxi ride from Cap Rocat to a sandy beach!)
