Dream holiday

I’ve been watching Race Around The World recently and it’s sparked my interest in travel and adventure.

So, if you could go on any kind of holiday to anywhere in the world, where would you choose ?

Adventure holiday in South America!

tralalal · 23/06/2025 19:48

Vietnam or Sri Lanka

Interesting suggestions! What in particular appeals about these places?

South America has so much. Peru is interesting and varied, stuffed full of history and nature. Brazil is huge and is the same but culturally very different. Go further south and Patagonia is other worldly. Can’t wait to go back!

Central America. History, ecology, diving, surfing, great people, biggest pyramid in the world, good food, diverse, awesome in every way. Maybe add on Mexico, for broadly similar reasons.

Yep, central America would do it too! … I love fantasy travel.

Sailing round the Med stopping at different small ports and lovely coves. I don't want to actually have to sail anything myself though.

Crikeyalmighty · 24/06/2025 09:48

I probably would do a Singapore/ Australia/NZ combo - probably because for me it would be a one off due to the time involved and cost and I’ve never been .

I love race across the world, I have travelled a lot and as a first timer I probably wouldn't head to either India or China, unless going on a group trip. India is massively hectic, but fabulous and in China the language can be a huge barrier, although mine is not recent experience, I went in 2004 so English might be more widely spoken now than it was then. If I was to head off right now I would go to Guatemala, Mexico, Belize or Costa Rica. It's a part of the world I haven't really seen. l don't think I have been anywhere that has disappointed me, the Angkor temples in Cambodia remain one of my favourite sites. Group trips with companies like Explore or Exodus are good for testing the waters of more adventurous travel. This is how I started out.

Love this! Thanks

South Atlantic - Tierra del Fuego, Falkland Islands, South Georgia to pay respects at Sir Ernest Shackleton’s grave, and Antarctica. Been fascinated by the early Antarctic explorers for ages.

I’m desperate to go, but until i can leave the kids behind, it’s too expensive. We are going to the high Arctic this year instead, but it’s not the same.

I know what you mean. I’ve found the ideal cruise that is run by Hurtigruten but it’s eye wateringly expensive.

Hurtigrunten is spamming my Facebook and tormenting me 😂

Just been reading through all of these stunning ideas whilst drinking a cup of tea and glancing out of the window at the rain 😆

Maybe very boring to some but I’m on my dream holiday right now… we’re staying at Tui Biomar in Majorca which is absolutely amazing, the best all inclusive I’ve been to (and I’m very fussy)- the food is amazing, there are 4 restaurants as well as the main buffet and all the food we’ve had so far has been so good. We are spending the days hopping around the island in taxis going to lots of different coves. It’s been so nice. I’ve been really unwell this year (I’m disabled with complex autoimmune issues) and it’s been just the break I’ve needed.

I would love to go further afield to some of the other places people have mentioned but I don’t know if my health would cope. So this is perfect for me. Highly recommend!

Oh my I love Majorca and would recommend Grupotel Molins in Cala San Vincent in the very North of the island. The food at that hotel is also amazing. Like fine dining every night and the hotel itself is modern, immaculate and smells divine! Ha ha I’m with you on this but I would also like to be more adventurous and try some far flung destinations. The suggestions on here are great!

@Picklechicken Majorca is my happy place and if you pick the right spots and are lucky with weather it is for me unbeatable for a certain type of holiday - my favourite place is Sant Elm - no packages though I think , only 2 hotels ( 1 of which is fabulous) it’s a resort on its own though and nothing really there apart from a gorgeous beach and lovely restaurants and a few shops

MurdoMunro · 24/06/2025 17:52

If you’d asked me this time last year I would’ve said an adventure, maybe Botswana, Japan or Canadian far north. But now I would go for a quiet unstructured retreat in Wales or the north Pennines sorts of areas.

AvidJadeShaker · 24/06/2025 18:21

I’d love to see more of Asia and I’d also love to go on a safari.
