All of the DC have now gone to uni or are working and DH and I are getting used to going on holidays where we don’t have to meet the requirements of 5 people. We met and has dc very young (and therefore had no money) so there was no travel pre dc so this is all quite new!
We like alpine type walking (Switzerland, France and Austria with the dc over the years) but are trying to do something different. So in a fit of very unusual impulse I have booked flights to Barcelona for a fortnight in September with the idea of hiking in the Pyrenees.
We plan to spend about few nights in Barcelona so will have about 8-10 days hiking. This is where the problems start, there seem to be so many options I don’t know where to begin.
Ideally I’d like two different centres (not too far apart) not too far from Barcelona. In a truly ideal world it would be great not to need a car but that seems to be unrealistic. I would really appreciate suggestions of where I should consider. Ideally we would be walking most days, although might have a day off occasionally. Not enormous distances- up to about 15km assuming some climbing.
I should add, I really don’t want to do one of those walks where you stay in a different hotel each night, packing up each night is not my idea of a holiday!!
