Short uK break idea - 1 adult and 5 year old

I’d like to take DD, almost 6, away for a short break (3-5 nights but up to a week) in the UK on a budget some time between 19 and 2 Aug.
Not camping, but caravan or hotel or cottage fine. Don’t mind self catering or something else. I know I have left it late, waiting to see if made redundant!

2.5hrs max from Oakham, East Mids. Driving. Budget ideally max £100/night not including food. We will share a double bed.

It doesn’t have to have a beach but needs some child friendly activities nearby. I don’t know where to start!

It depends what kind of Holiday you want? My kids love Blackpool as it’s so full of fun and activities but it’s not the place to go if you are wanting to relax.

my kids like staying at the Hilton by Hampton in Blackpool or Village hotel Blackpool both are
less than 100 per night, we visit;

Bkackpool zoo
Bkackpool pleasure beach theme park
beach day
Blackpool tower and circus
gruffalo adventure
sandcastle water park
Sealife centre
slots and arcades (£1 of 2ps endless fun)

they throughly enjoy themselves, cheap chain places to eat like Bella Italia and Turtle Bay.

How about Butlins Skegness? I haven't visited Skegness but we go to Butlins Minehead every year , there is so much for kids to do. Our DS is 8 now and it's his absolute favourite place and can't wait to go back this summer.
