Taking something on board a flight

Hi All, I’m currently in Turkey and travelling home this evening. So I bought some artwork and the artist packaged it up for me - cue the problem, it doesn’t fit in my case! Even taking it out of the packaging it won’t fit!!!
DH seems to think we can take the tube as a carry on and it will be fine - I’m not so convinced!! We are flying easyJet. Anyone any experience? TIA
picture attached - it’s approx 1m tall and not heavy

I used to take a poster tube like that on easyJet for work as well as my hand luggage allowance and no one ever so much as raised an eyebrow at it.
