Really lovely guidebooks?

DD turns 21 in September and I’m taking her to Paris for a few days.

While most of our actual planning and prep will be done online, I’d like to give her a book now to start to get into the spirit of things and to be a commemorative of the trip.

Any suggestions for a book which might fit the bill? I did wonder about novels etc but ideally I’d love something half way between a coffee table album full of photos and a DK/LP/RG book full of lists etc.

I always think the DK travel books are the best souvenir but the younger generation aren’t really into guide books. They just use the internet. Maybe get a book of your photos of the trip printed for her after the event?

A book is a lovely souvenir and presumably the OP knows whether or not her DD likes them.

I saw some years ago that might fit the bill, but I can't remember anything about them except the cover/style was a bit like a vintage Penguin.

Perhaps go for a browse in a large Waterstones or independent bookshop if you have one nearby and see if anything jumps out at you as being what you're thinking of?

Thanks both

Bjorkdidit sadly we live miles from any decent bookshops so it’s hard just to browse. I think what I want isn’t so much a book to use for planning as to help her get into the “vibe” (is that what the young people say?!). She’s not been there for years and is having a bit of a tough time so I’d like to make it special and part of that is sparking her imagination and whetting her appetite

You could try posting on the MN What We're Reading forum. There are threads about all kinds of books there, including sometimes ones about travel. I'm sure posters will be able to come up with some good recommendations.
Hope you both have a lovely trip.
