Lake Como

Has anyone ever been to lake como? We are going in July for three nights, staying in Mannagio. Any recommendations for trips etc gratefully received.

It is the most beautiful part of the world!
Are you staying at The Grand Hotel in Menaggio?
There is a ferry stop in Menaggio, so it's very easy to get to other parts of the lake.
The boat trip down the lake to Como town is a lovely trip, and Como is worth visiting, though it's sure to be busy.
Varenna is a pretty village across the lake from Menaggio, nice to go for lunch or an early evening aperitivo. Bellagio is another pretty village, nice restaurants and shops selling silk scarves.

Villa Carlotta at Tremezzo is stunning, with spectacular gardens, there are several gardens you can visit around the lake. Tremezzo is bustling town.
For a longer trip, Verona is lovely, a busy vegetable market, wonderful restaurants and food shops, and stunning architecture.

You will have a fantastic time! Eat as much gelato as you can!

One of my favourite places I’ve ever been! Definitely visit bellagio you can sit on the front of the lake and have beautiful views with good meals and antipasti deals like “happy hour”. It’s lovely, but I’d definitely recommend wearing sensible comfy shoes as lots of walking and steep steps. Before bellagio I went to Varenna but definitely prefer bellagio as lots of shops, things to look at and the gardens are beautiful (Villa Melzi) you can walk around the gardens alone for an hour or two and it’s a beautiful Italian themed botanical garden

I also recommend a visit to Villa Balbianello, even just for the gardens. It was used as a filming location for James Bond & Star Wars.

If you have enough time you might also want to consider a day trip to St Moritz on the Bernina Express.

I also hired a boat and went out on the lake for a few hours. There are a couple of rental places in Mennagio.

Do book restaurants for the evening. I found places were fully booked & others would run out of items on the menu pretty quickly, Everything closes around 9pm apart from hotel bars.

There was a nice little market I think on the Friday night when I was there. .

ahhhh Lake Como, so beautiful. We went to Bellagio and rented an airbnb with a beautiful view of the lake, drove to Switzerland for the day, stunning view of the alps.

I just want you to go again now 😍
