Holiday Ideas for a big birthday

DH turns 50 in March next year and I want to do something to celebrate. He really doesn’t want a party or anything like that and so I’m considering a family holiday instead.

I’d originally been eyeing up New York but he’s just been with work so that’s lost its shine! We have two DD who will be 11 and 7 when we travel so I want to be mindful of somewhere that is child friendly.

We’ll be going in March/April next year and i’m
thinking long haul to somewhere with sun. I wondered if anyone had any recommendations for locations that are a bit special but that will also have good weather, be family friendly, good food etc. As an example I’ve looked at the Maldives but wondered if the kids would be bored…..

Open to any suggestions - I’m flexible ish on budget - thanks all

Thailand or Vietnam.

Blend of culture, beaches, city life and amazing food. Very safe. Do sone research into which parts of each country has the best weather at that time of year. iInternal flights are affordable and plentiful.

In Vietnam look at Hoi An, Ninh Binh, Sapa Hanoi and Ha long bay.

In Thailand look at Bangkok and Chiang Mai. For beaches I am not sure about monsoon season but there are lots of options.

Either way the kids will definitely not be bored

Amazing - thank you. I’ll definitely look at those suggestions. I had thought about Thailand but hadn’t considered Vietnam - nor have we ever been. Would you travel around or hole up in one place for the whole time?

I’d travel round. It’s very easy.

Theres lots of Facebook groups that give good advice but start research by googling Vietnam travel blogs.

My first thought was Toronto & Niagara Falls but that may be a bit cold in March/April.

What about California? It’s got a good mix of city, beach, theme park, national parks, Disney etc

Thailand will be lovely. You could do Bangkok for a few days, Chang mai then down to Railay Beach and finally a luxurious hotel on one of the islands nearer Malaysia. You can get a lot of bang for your buck there in March, and the service is outstanding.

Thank you - also hadn’t thought of California - will def take a look. There are so many options - which is amazing of course but difficult to narrow it down !

This sounds amazing. I did a girls trip to Thailand in my early 20’s so a different type of
holiday but I loved it. DH has never been to Thailand so def a good option to
explore - thank you
