What can I take in my hand luggage on a plane? Lost track of the rules

(That's for Gatwick but most airlines/airports follow the same rules).

No gels, creams or liquid over 100mls, or in a container over 100mls, and they all have to fit into a 1L clear plastic bag (small sandwich bag size), which must be done up to go through security.

They are fairly strict on bag size too - depending on the airport you are going from, it still may be one piece only, and others are back to two, but thats a normal handbag and a small suitcase or rucksac per person with a ticket (not infants)
