Have bought tickets for a holiday in the gold coast, australia. Can anyone recommend cheap yet decent accommodation for us? maybe self-contained cabins or something?
Also, can anyone help with a 7-day 6-night itinery? thanks!!

What part of the Gold Coast are you planning on staying in?.

We stayed at the Sheraton at Mainbeach which was both nice and reasonably priced.

Would not suggest you stay in Surfers Paradise at all, particularly if you want peace and quiet at night.

Its about an hour or two away from Brisbane and Australia Zoo. Also the Lamington National which is nearer to the Gold Coast Park is well worth a visit. Byron Bay is also worth a day trip (its Australia's msot easterly point).

Hi hazlinh
If you have not already done so, I think you might be better off checking out the forums at Tripadvisor link here. Use the search facility to look for accommodation recommendations or post your own question. Broadbeach is recommended as an alternative to Surfers Paradise and there are plenty of 1/2 serviced bedroom apartments to chose from. If you don't have a car, there are frequent buses from Broadbeach to all the theme parks. You will also find loads of itinerary suggestions. Have you thought of splitting your stay so that you have a couple of nights in Brisbane (easier to get to Australia Zoo/Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary from there) and maybe 5 nights on the Gold Coast. Anyway head to Tripadvisor you'll find all the suggestions that you need there as well as reviews of the hotels and apartments. Enjoy your trip.

Hello! thanks for the suggestions.

Attila: had not realised surfer's paradise might be that busy!~thanks for pointing that out.

copycat-will check out tripadvisor, tho had tried to search for cheap accomm there earlier n didnt find much within our budget. will try again! did think of splitting the trip betw brisbane but wd it be suicidal to do a day trip??

so i dont need to hire a car? ie buses are reliable and plentiful?
thanks!
