My 85 yr old mother and I visit Orlando to stay with family every summer. Our hosts are brilliant but do work full time. Mum and I have done all theme parks etc over the yrs with the grand children . This year I would like to visit /do something vaguely cultural ( if possible! ), or different. We are both fit and healthy but her zip wiring days are over. We need to get there by uber from central Orlando . Any recommendations gratefully received.

Are you near the Kennedy space centre?

I would perhaps do Kennedy space centre, followed by food at Coacoa beach. The Gulf keys are beautiful if you fancy a couple of days there, Siesta Key is lovely we stayed for a few days in a house near the Village. Further afield I’d recommend an airboat ride in the Everglades followed by lunch/dinner at the Camellia Street Grill in Everglade city (the word city does alot of heavy lifting it’s a tiny town). Best food and you can watch the Alligators.

we did the wild florida animal park last year - about an hours drive from orlando, and it was great. nice little animal park, DD got to pet a sloth, we did an airboat ride which was awesome and did their drive through animal park, so it was a pretty full day.
we also had a good day at one of the outlet malls

Winter Park is a lovely little village-type suburb of NE Orlando. Kind of like the America you see in films - town square, independent shops, cafes, boating lake etc.

Well worth a morning/afternoon visit
