Easy jet flights

Does anyone know if the arm rests on easy jet flights go up. As my user name suggests, I am not small, in fact that's a little bit of an understatement. I have started a diet but it is not going as well as I hope. I am due to fly on Easy jet in December and I have just seen that the flights have a seat width of 16 inches. I just called Easy jet to see about buying another seat (I don't want to make my neighbour uncomfortable even though it is my friend) and they have said I can buy another seat but none of the arm rests on their planes go up. I thought this sounds a little odd. I am not in an emergency row and I would be taking up an aisle seat along with the middle seat, with my friend in the window seat. I know the arm rests don't raise by the window or aisle but it seems crazy that the middle arm rests do not go up. Does anyone know if they do?

It depends on the plane in my experience. Some do, but from memory others don’t.

I was on one at half term and they did

Mine always have, but you need them down for take off & landing.

Easyjet's website (https://www.easyjet.com/en/help/boarding-and-flying/special-assistance, click on "Booking and seating allocation") says "Rows 3, 4, 5 and 25 on every aircraft have liftable armrests". I'm not sure how that works for row 25, which is in a different place relative to the rest of the seating on the A319, A320, and A321, but if you book 3 or 4 or 5 you should be OK.

They may raise but a lot don't raise fully, so wouldn't be flush with the seat back and still poking into you.

From what I’ve experience on all airlines it’s only the exit seats that don’t go up. I reckon you’ll be fine in any other row and can I just say thank you for thinking of this.

The flights I’ve been on and I’ve been on a lot of EJ! Yes they go up.
